The Darkness Within
Try as we might,
This is not something we can fight,
Our darkness so bright,
We hide behind the phrase intrusive thoughts,
But what if it's what we deeply sought,
Those thoughts when we hold a knife and want to stab ourselves with it,
Or walking by the edge and having the feeling of wanting to fall into that hollow pit,
Or when we hold a baby and the voices within echo drop it,
Or the unnecessary urge to remove a platelet,
How the white blood cells must find us inconsiderate,
Why make the word self control?
If we are actually good souls,
It's evidence of how twisted we are,
Just bizarre,
No matter your denial,
We are actually vile,
Human beings radiate dangerousness,
An actual deadliness,
Generally just associated with ageless darkness,
What if the mood booster we need, that serotonin,
Is just the darkness within.
