My beloved world,
grisly experiences have since been our lot.
With the new year unfurled,
we patiently waited to unravel life's knot.


We now know pain.
Chanting a melancholic song
while watching fellows die in disdain
asking rhetorically, 'Where did we go wrong?'


Things we once considered paramount,
were put on hold.
Each second shows we failed to surmount
the virus that has brought sorrows untold.


Now, all we can do is watch and wait.
Hoping the virus' grip would soon abate...
