Just to be near me

Sent away by my loving mother
Her way of helping me I guess
I was hurt, angry and scared
Then you appeared
Like an angel sent from above
To guide me through this life
You showed me affection I never knew
You cared for me more than I could handle
It was a difficult ask I know
I wasn't ready to change
I wasn't ready to be who I am today
I left that city without a goodbye
Never giving you a chance
Never taking the time to thank you
Never telling you
