Life's Game...
Maybe we are all pawns in life's game,
Trying to survive and make memories
that we hang against a wall,
Forgotten in a frame,
We can not outsmart life
or win in any way,
Death, poverty, trauma
are just some of the things
life uses in this game we play
The rules are unfair ,
and we have no idea how
to overcome what is at stake,
All we do is silently watch
as life continues to take,
Day by day our defense grows weaker
as we try to cope,
But it is soon clear what is happening,
And we start losing hope
Just when you think maybe this time
you won't lose so bad,
Life makes another move that leaves you
broken, hopeless and sad,
Suddenly you are winning, and you start to celebrate,
Then life smiles and whispers "Checkmate "
