Red

To some it strikes like lighting
Takes control of their body like an anointing
Some have failed to explain how ecstatic the feeling is
Causing pain for others while putting other's wounds at ease
one word explains how it feels, subjective
Heart and blood become acrobatic
mind enters the realms of trance
words penetrating the heart through the mind like a sharp lance

For me it moved slowly like a snail
Leaving traceable prints like a leaking pail
Some took daring falls
My roots reached for the deepest water tables
Those who fell broke a rib or two
I was difficult to supplant
