Harbinger of our doom
Harbinger of our doom,
Hurtling through space,
The asteroid is here too soon
the reality we face
what we expected was a prophecy
the second coming, with trumpets and rapture
the doomsday clock has made that all redundant
with every minute, confusion the new religion
the scientists continue in calculation
most of the earth would be wiped out they say
it's too late, the space station not nearly complete
we can't help but watch those screens
fifteen days, thirteen hours and forty minutes
some of us barely in our prime
my friend's sister only got married
harbinger of our doom
with every second the question looms
stuck in our throats like an oversized morsel
no one around notices the glitch
but the clock now says fifteen minutes
we all rush out to the see the sun slowly blackened
then a jolt, still feel something stuck in my throat
I'm panting, it's five in the morning and I'm drenched in sweat
memories come rushing back from the dream
only a dream but the fear, that was very real
