Father-Daughter
Waves that crash along the beach,
Hope farther than arms can reach
Father and daughter walk side by side,
Listening to the sound of the incoming tide
They kick rocks and pick flowers
And feel the weight of each rain shower
They talk about the fire
They wish they were near
But never seem to tire
As they're so happy here
Replaying memories again and again,
How one time she ran
As far as she could,
Another she more food than one should
It's time for goodbyes
A hug was wanted,
She could not deny
But it was too dangerous,
She left with a sigh.
She looked out the window
For just one last glimpse
Her heart hung low
Like this was a dream
That would go away with a pinch.
