I woke up in the morning,
Saw red stains on the bedsheets,
Boom my periods came,
I went to the washroom,
Took shower and pad,
Then started my day with period cramps,
I went to the kitchen for breakfast,
With every move I take,
I could feel the bleeding and pain,
I somehow managed to eat,
Then sat on the couch for an hour,
Again went to kitchen for dishes,
Walking slowly feeling the cramps,
Mom asked why am I walking this way,
I told her it was my first day,
I had a whole day to survive,
Made lunch, ate and did dishes,
Made dinner, ate and did dishes,
I somehow managed the day,
But what's the most difficult was night,
When everyone was asleep,
The period pain kept me awake,
Somehow I managed to sleep,
But while sleeping I could still feel the cramps,
The second day came,
Repeating the same routine,
Working in the kitchen,
Even when I am on my periods,
Like nothing happened,
Survived the whole period cycle alone,
I was happy I'm still alive,
No one knew from what I was going through,
But only I knew cause I was feeling the cramps,
Then again it was not over yet,
I knew it will come back again next month,
I will have to feel the same pain again,
And bear with it again alone,
That's when I realize how strong I am,
How strong all the girls out there are.
