I came home but it didn’t feel like home,
The track had been repainted and my spikes didn’t fit comfortably,
My spikes had been worn and nobody stood next to me.
My hands were left gripping to the freshly painted floor and my heart was left racing;
Legs no longer stumbling to catch up anymore.

I came home but it didn’t feel like home,
Nobody cheered in the stands hidden behind their camera,
People didn’t jump and shout at the finish line cheering me on,
Not even did I after I knew I could’ve always done better,
Just a tiny bit better.

My lucky lane was no longer lucky,
My spikes didn’t even fit,
I tried to come home but it just didn’t feel like home,
This place just didn’t feel like what homes are supposed to feel like,
I don’t even know why I still return to a place that I don’t feel at home with.

This place just isn’t home anymore,
It’s just a place I long to go home to but I know it can never be my home again,
I came home but it didn’t feel like home.
