Hope Lost
#WritcoPoemPrompt11
The days were unending as were the nights,
She waited and waited and waited,
But there seemed no hope in sight.
Earlier, she had put her hope on the road,
But it was beaten black and blue

She could do nothing,
As poverty was the chain
In her hands.

She held on
To hope for survival
And her basic needs of life,

But she felt her
Hope kept sinking,
And time was running out.

She stood in front
Of her adopted home,
An abandoned incomplete building.

She stood like a mother.
Expecting her son from a long journey.
She was expecting something.

She was expecting joy from
The raising of the sun.
A beautiful joy.

Something she knew
Was more than a son to her,
Something such as her hope lost.
