A Lost Presence
And just like that,
You’re gone.
Just like the leaves in Autumn,
You appear,
Show your true colors,
And eventually fall away with the wind.
Disappear underneath the eerie, bright moonlight,
Like a shadow in the night -
Unknown to everyone except the ones who feel the past presence.
I feel your cold hand slip away,
And I was overcome with the sudden loss of contact.
Gone without a word.
No explanation,
But then again,
No words are needed for me to understand that I wasn’t good enough.
Before I could react,
You were already long gone.
Our hearts disconnected,
The bond ripped apart at the seams -
The seams that weren’t stitched properly to begin with.
I look up at the moon,
The moonlight illuminating my vacant expression,
Exposing the emotionless tears that leave my eyes,
Forever fixated in a blank stare.
