The Poem Recited On Beale Street
In a white supremacists' abyss
I take a piss and come to my senses
With paragraphs indented
I record prose
And elevate above, through poetry
Tempered love, the slow simmer, that emboldens me
Let's find a context for which this can be
Through both scrutiny and uncertainty.
Damaged stems and leaves, petals;
And so have you
They tell us we don't exist
But it is your persistence and resolve that insist;
that we do.
When I am weak and can not face their sheets alone,
There by my side is you
When I long to die, it is your vision that you lend me,
And my compromise is to survive for you.
