My home was invaded
I wasnt born a wanderer,a being that doesnt belong.
I had a home and I loved it there
I never came knocking on your door
You chained me up and dragged me here
But you never treated me like an equal
And I was brainwashed into thinking
That am a thing that deserves to be hidden
A beast to be tamed and told how to live
Muzzled and chained
I had to speak and move when it suited you
But then I woke up
For a race bought with a mirror and some silk
Alot has been built off my back
Yet still no recognition was to be offered
No apology extended
All I asked for was to live freely in my body
Not to be hunted down for the colour of my skin
But you would rather have my soul depart
And linger around restlessly
Tormented in both life and death
I stand and say enough is enough
Let me be free
I wasnt born with any chains
Enough is enough
Theres no more place left on my body for you to scar.
Enough is enough
No more tears,no more bloodshed,no more hate
I raise my fist as a sign of peace
A sign of togetherness
No more should it be used to crash my kind
This I do not just for me
But for my ancestors whose souls are restless
And for those who will come long after am gone
To walk on these streets with heads held high
Not burdened by the invisible chains
Choking us right now.
