reality blurs with what might as well be real. is it a lie
or mental illness to justify emotion with delusion? oh, but haven't you heard
of the soldiers that go marching, telling tales that never happened?
(but how else do they explain the holes not made from bullets?)
maybe it's easier to tell of what people can understand;
people understand war, abuse, heartbreak. but how do you explain
why you sang "Lemon Tree" as you peeled Curt's body from the branches,
why the word respect, a reminder of how selfish you are, makes you cringe,
why a stupid ring he never touched...
