Beloved
The land is still,
The winds speak not,
The stars light not,
The leaves whisper not.
What is this?
Oh my beloved, what is this?
My heart is silent,
Like a barren sea of sand,
she refuses to speak.
Oh my eyes, look!
Behold the never-ending silence
that sweeps the gloom,
It is all still... so calm...
But oh-so eerie it is,
Strange, unearthly....
The lack of humane whispers,
resounds in ways that words cannot.
Tell me, my beloved,
How shall I walk this rocky path?
How shall I survive this?
Save me,
for my fear grows in strength by day,
And stronger still by night.
The dust rises not,
The oceans roar not,
The bees sing not, nor the birds.
The bears rumble not,
And I walk this pathless path,
Fixing my eyes on the heaven
that was promised to me.
