How long until the grief melts?
The earth holds not your body but the fondness you once retained,
You bury a seed and it appears as ache
blossoms into sun-kissed pain.
They say grief is an evidence of love
So you show the scars instead,
As a love is a battleground and to give your heart is to fight.
Tomorrow your ex would paint you villian
and it wouldn't matter
in the battle ground
one person shoots and the other bleeds,
Both die
one from gun
and the other from pulling the trigger.
Grief lingers,
Like everything else
the spotify playlist, the sweat shirt with a stain from when you first kissed, the shirt you borrowed but never gave back, the pictures saved on your iCloud.
You promise your friends you'd stop echoing so much pain but echo comes from emptiness,
So you'd fill up on cigarettes and awkward conversations with strangers.
Grief doesn't fade,
You just carry on with the noise of it
and sometimes you meet someone with a love so loud you barely hear it anymore.
