My Calico Friend
To be different,
Needs a difference.
Near me, is my friend....
Neither simple nor fluffy.
Bold as all women should be.
Wakes me up, with voice her own,
Which itself is a melody!
Orange eyes, stared my opening eyes!
She is my feline friend... Njunji.
Her family is auspicious,
Worshipped even by Egyptians!
Jumping walls and terraces,
She lands on all fours;
A humble goldfish lives,
In a bowl with a porous lid,
At the corner of my table.
My fellow, knows better,
Better than even me.
She ends up, licking her furs,
And making a fuss with the carpet.
She travels, to a sleepy world,
With postures that make people laugh.
I pull her whiskers, without expectations.
Such is the sleep, of my heartkeeper,
My calico cat Njunji,
With a difference.
