Outcast
For too long
I dwelt in the shadows of night,
Hiding from the sweet embrace
Of the Holy light.

Denial, Shame
And utter stress,
Lead me closer to the edge
As I neared the endless abyss.

Helping voices
Cannot be heard,
For the painful lesson
That I have learned.

For who can help
In my time of despair,
And the sweet light
Is seen nowhere.

My heart now
Cold and rotten,
The sweet memories that were
Are all but forgotten.

I then embraced the dark
And became its friend,
Accepting reality
As well as its bitter end.

Until a ray of hope shone upon
My dark and cold world,
With a smile so sweet
From this unknown Girl.

She extended to me
A helping hand,
Saying to keep going
And proudly stand.

She led me out of the dark
And into the light,
I never thought
I would see a world so bright.

She told me of prayers
And confessions,
Of heavenly advice
As well as scriptural discussions.

For the world may be cruel
and full of discord,
Salvation comes from
None other than the lord.
