five years ago?
how did I not see all the signs
that you showed?
was I too blind or did I think of
myself too low?
Am I too late to experience you?

Too many what ifs are now circling my head like
If I had more confidence, would we have ended up together?
If I had asked you out, would you have said yes?
If we were together, would we have gotten a happily ever after?..
or ended up a broken hearted mess?
Was I just in time to avoid a big disaster?

whether I was too late or just in time, I would never know.
All I know is that I'm glad I stayed friends with you.
