O Summer Child
You like your tiny summer hands on my face.
You have learnt to smile through your gaze.
Your father works like he is running a race.
Your mother has learnt to cook pretty well.
You are yet to learn to stay calm and quiet.
But you are only one and a half years old.
You holler, and I know how to keep you safe.
