O, my fleeting mind, thy states doth change
With time's relentless, turning range
'Tis good, if fate doth align with thee
Better still, if adversity doth set thee free
I've learned to cherish struggle's might
And in life's tempests, find a strange delight
O, God of the downtrod, please hear my plea
My dreams, like autumn leaves, hath withered be
Darkness hath consumed my worldly sight
A flame I brought, but i could not banish night
My life a constant struggle, void of gain
A honeyed ocean, yet my dry cup remains
Empty, alas, my endeavors hath been
Death's slumber, why dost thou not come to me?
And close my eyelids, with thy rainy veil
