If only wishes can come true,
I have one or two or maybe a few,
And they're all about you.

Always wishing that you and me will end up together.
Daydreaming that we can be like other couple, dancing under the moonlight of stars.

But all scattered into pieces when that wish didn't come true
" I like you" as I said gently
and you replied--"I just don’t feel the same line.”

You thanked me kindly, with a soft, gentle smile,
But your heart was elsewhere, a world away by a mile.

I watched you smile, your laughter so bright,
With someone new, it felt both wrong and right.
In those moments, my heart broke in two.
Seeing you happy, but it wasn't with me.

My heart sank deep, like a stone in the sea, wishing you’d look at me the way you look at her.
I paint our story in colors so bright,
but the canvas remains just out of sight.

In my heart, you’ll stay, though it’s bittersweet, a wish unfulfilled, but still, I’ll retreat.
