The man I want to be
By giving you will get back
You don’t need to ask for respect
Keep fighting for what’s left
I know I’m just a man
I rely on no sword
Only my ken
My words might have no meaning
But, why are you reading?
Little I can give you
Maybe enough to remember that there’s more within you

Through losses and heartbreaks I battled
Can’t hide at times I do feel rattled
I lost a wife
But I didn’t lose my life
I’ve sinned
The guilt hounds
But my will to live still abounds
Love is my spear
Hate is just fear
Used by men you don’t need near

You’re not an island
You’re the sea
Paths cross like a vine
Futures intertwine
What you do over here
Can change our big blue sphere

Don’t worry about yesterday
Look ahead
It’s in your power to make it good or bad
They say face reality
That’s one mentality, but
Look around you, is it real?
Or does the matrix have something to conceal?
When something goes wrong
Don’t blame whom you’re among
Look at the mirror in front
You might leave for their sake
But from yourself you can’t escape

Tell them what you behold
Don’t try to hold
The pain will unfold
Brave men speak their mind
They spread love despite the hate
Because they understand their kind

Let the overbearing speak
The kings rule
The sultans ride their mule
You are not a pawn
You are the fuel
One day they will understand
This universe is not under their hand

Don’t worry about who you were
Be who you are
Offer what you can
Love them until the last man

Give them a reason to live
With a lot more in between
Make their smiles as wide as yours
As when your lover’s eyes you cross
I do it for them
I do it for thee
That’s the man I want to be
