To a time of fantasy,
freedom,
and best of all
Fun!
Santa Claus is coming
The Easter Bunny is prancing
Sugar Plum fairies are dancing
And you're snug in bed
Believing
Believing it's real
Believing it's true
That if you don't close your closet
The Boogie man will come after you
If you wish upon a star
All of your dreams will come true
And they do!
Sort of...
You see it's all fun and games,
Till the same imagination that had made you smile
Leaves you stressed, depressed, and in denial
"You're gonna fail"
"You're not good enough"
These are the thoughts our flawed minds
Feed off of
Negativity has the power
To devour
The positive energy
Once possessed
Leaving us to settle for anything
But our best
"Show confidence"
Problem is you can't
Because your true identity
Is hidden under the fantasies
You've created
You stay up late
Without taking a break
Trying to ace tommorow's test
But break down
Because you didn't get enough rest
Others ahead of you call out
"Get up! Get up!"
But their voices are muffled
Because your head is troubled
By the minor setback, you have just encountered
Defeated by doubt
That you won't make it out
Of the prison, you've created...
But, there is a way out
In this cage fueled by fear and rage
The solution can be found
If you listen to the sound
Of the inner voice calling out
"I can grant you the victories you so desire
If you choose to neglect their constant holler."
"They want to take the spirit
That is concealed within your heart."
"Allow me to take control
Of your thoughts, actions, words, and more."
"Let my power coarse through your veins."
"As you take another shot at obstacles
Which stand in your way."
Of your dreams!
Of your passions!
Send those unwanted thoughts packing!
For the one, I speak of
You have already met
That can save you from the misery, the anxiety, and the regret
He cannot be found in findings as old as time
This person is alive and stares back at you
Through your own reflection
Oh, the challenges you will conquer
The achievements you will succeed
The problems you will solve
When your CAN'TS
Become CANS
And your dreams into plans
The more that you go, the better life will be
