Ableism is an awful thorn in our society,
A belief that some should be treated differently
It jabs and then seeps, forcing the disabled to sit quietly
Leaving those who are different crying clinically

Building stairs without ramps, doors without handles,
Trying to hurt them physically
Laughing as the disabled are getting trampled
Robbing them of their "undeserved" tranquility

Putting the lives of service animals in harms way
Bringing untrained pets into stores
Sometimes I wish people like that would just decay
Please, we don't want to, but we could start a war

And some people give backhanded compliments
"Oh that's so nice that you have friends!"
Calling us inspirations, all we did was have accomplishments
Just treat us normally, can we please make amends?

Some of us are just so broken and tired
Simply trying to get by
But being maimed for how our brains are hardwired
At this point, we'd rather you kill us in a drive by

But disabilities are not a weakness or flaw,
They're a difference that makes us unique
And honestly this ableism is making my skin crawl
But you love dehumanizing labels, like calling us freaks

And it's gross to touch random amputees
They're people, not objects! Yes, they are different
But have some respect, c'mon, please!
And you don't have a right to know their medical history, you miscreant!

Ableism is an uphill battle
We're constantly fighting for our lives
Sometimes the hill starts to rattle
And we lose our will to survive

But through all of the blood and tears,
I think it's time that we finally rise up
Let's face all of our fears,
Embrace our differences, because we are enough
