The Prodigal Angel
Demons, fiends, satan's army, beasts, etc.,
are some of the names that mortals describe us as. But who knew that this all is about to change for me...
I still remember the time, when we angels fought against each other,
with God's army on one side while Lucifer's army on the other, and we lost...
Sure, we were condemned, but we didn't lose our powers, not entirely to say the least. We were however, powerful than the mortals who lived on Earth, but keeping in mind the certain rules laid by God to follow.
This was His way of still keeping us under control, using us like a pawn in His own games to bring the best out of the humans. Though, we couldn't let that happen. As long as we're here, we strive to deprave the human mind, leading them to sin, thereby capturing their souls.
Torturing, playing evil games, pushing people towards their sinful nature, demolishing the very soil they walked on, was part of our job.
This was our declaration of destroying what God loved, and that is His creation.
On one such usual day, flying alone trying to find my next victim, I heard a melodious voice of a woman.
Drawn to this tune, I further ventured into the forest coming from a venue that had been set up for a celebration. I smiled, thinking this is the perfect place for causing problems and was just about to alert my fellow demons when I spotted her... Dressed in soft light blue gown singing with no care in the world. Her supple skin, radiant smile and eyes full of life were a sight to behold, as I stared at her in utter delight.
"Adah, darling, it's time now..."
Time for what? I think to myself. Just then, a handsome prince came in all strong and mighty on his horse, looking tenderly towards Adah. Assembling the two at the centre of the crowd, an older man spoke out, "With the union of Adah and Nathan, our kingdoms will always remain fortified with no evil befalling us. Today, will mark their engagement, following a grand marriage celebration in 9 days."
After which, Nathan took Adah's hand and slid a ring on her finger while the latter did the same. I stood there dumbfounded. No, this can't be, I said. She should be mine...
I clenched my fists and in a rage brought a huge wind that blew away the attendees and the entire venue, and hurriedly grabbing Adah's hand took her with me.
She let out a big scream upon looking at me, which hurt me a little, but I didn't care.
I took her far away, deep into the woods and stopped near a waterfall, letting go of her and she whimpered in fear and tried running away, but I appeared out of nowhere in each direction she ran to. Frustrated, she asked, "Who are you? And what is it that you want?"
"I am Ramoniel. A demon and a terror to all mortals, making me Satan's right hand. I've brought you here, because it is you who I want." I said slowly, coming closer to her.
She flinched trying to move away from me, but I held her arm and pulled her towards me with her still resisting. "You're a monster! That's what you are. Now unhand me!" she said. Though, I was still admiring her and was about to lean in to kiss her, and possess her to be mine, a bright light blinded me and out of nowhere a hand pushed me away.
"What is this?!" I already knew I was back in the tribunal with God. This is where we bargain for souls on Earth. "How dare you bring me here?"
"Silence!" Boomed the...
