HOW I WISH III
I wish I had loved you without trying to save you,
without the need to fix the things that were already whole,
without the pressure of making us something
we were never meant to be,
and instead,
held you simply for the space you occupied,
in all your pain,
in all your beauty.

I wish I had understood that love isn’t about
a perfect rhythm or harmony,
but about two hearts beating in the same room
and knowing they don’t need to dance
to the same song to feel each other.
I would have given you that room,
where we could be
without all the noise of the world
pulling us apart.

I wish I had loved you with more patience,
not to rush through the moments,
not to chase the future
but to stand beside you in the present,
breathing with you,
not to seek the perfect words
but to listen in the spaces where we both fell short.

But love can never be rewritten,
not in the way you would have asked for it,
and maybe that’s why it was so...
