The excuse
Look at me
Rummaging through a pile of piano keys
Searching for peace
Violently, I cry out like a violin
In the middle of a lost orchestra
Playing to no audience
Look at me wallowing in lyrics,
Borrowing it's meanings
Trying to make sense
Of it all,
Trying not to lose patience
Without swallowing its gimmicks
Look at me grasping at straws,
Scratching at walls
While the whole wide world
Is laughing at us;
Look at me begging for mercy
Without asking at all
Look at dreams losing breath
Without gasping at all
My only excuse has been that I'm human
That I'm young and stupid and imperfect
I don't want to die.
I want to live and be alive.
I don't want to die.
I don't want to lose
That excuse.
