Grandma's Kitchen
#WritcoPoemPrompt42
Write a poem focusing on a single memory, or describe what you might imagine the typical grandmother’s kitchen to be like.My grandma was anything but typical,Her kitchen,to me was the best place to be,I remember it when I was just 3.
I could smell cookies baking when I opened the front door.Id go running to the kitchen,She's turn around and grab me up.Hugging me so tight and kissing my whole face.Grandmas kitchen was my favorite place. She had bright yellow curtains pulled back with you blue bows. The cabinet's were yellow too ,With matching yellow ducks that sat beside her toaster that was a Max delux. Her oven was old fashioned with a kettle sitting in the middle, right beside the built in pan cake griddle. She always had a biscuit or a piece of bacon to nibble .After all the family had ate and moved along. Her dishes were stacked neatly on the drain to dry,.She had a real quick hand
when it came to swatting at a fly. She wore a flowered apron with big pockets front and back
She'd always have some candy corn waiting there for me I just never knew in what pocket they would be,I couldn't wait to reach my hand inside and see..
She had a coocoo clock that always made me laugh .When it went coocoo coocoo I knew an hour had past.Simetimes she would set on the porch snapping green beans from her garden .And when she past gas really loud she'd say "Well beg my pardon" The back door was the back way to get in the kitchen and if you didn't shut the screen door you would hear her bitchin.Saying "Who didn't shut the screen? I bet if I locked it you'd get what I mean! She had throw rugs laying on the floor one in front of the kitchen sink and one at the back door. Her table was always full of papers ,sewing needles and ointment,I swear she kept every thing and every card appointment. She had those crocheted little dolls and all their body parts .All over the kitchen
of all the dolls she'd start.I never really thought. that grandma's kitchen was different from the rest but when I compare to this day it's still the very best. She made each thing with love and she gave so geterously she always made me feel so special
She's a fine example of what real
love autta be.Her kitchen will forever be alive in my memory.
