Changes Within The Night
Within the dead of night when the moon hangs high
An animal comes out quiet as a sigh
Its hooves barely make whispers upon the ground
As it skulks through its darkness all around

A mare of the night with a horn on its head
Eyes filled with menace glouring red
Its mane is black as the deepest abysses
As its glistening skin emits ethereal hisses

This is no ordinary unicorn you see
But a night mare beast brim with loathesome glee
It sends forth shadows all hungry and wild
A creature of darkness neither meek nor mild

Its horn is twisted and keen as a knife
And its teeth gleam with a deadly strife
It is a predator ruthless and strong
A being to be feared never admired in song

For this night mare unicorn knows no mercy
It feeds on fear and loves to see
The terror in the eyes of its prey
As it stalks through the night the antithesis of day

Yet there is ever more to this creature than meets the eye
For deep within its heart a soul does lie
A soul that is lost indeed and filled with despair
Just a soul that longs for someone to care

So if you should ever encounter upon this beast
Take heed not to run in fear and dare not be its feast
Show it kindness show it love
And perhaps thence it shall rise above

For even a night mare unicorn may change
If given the chance to rearrange
Its wicked ways and find some peace
And allow its torment and wrath to cease
