A small second
I went outside today,
stood a few minutes in the rain.
It just fell.
The plants in our garden all flourished,
all pretty and polished.
I took a breath.
The sky was gray and blew,
there were a few birds that flew,
and if you look closely you could see plants that grew new.
I took a breath.
My jeans stabbed the scars on my leg,
My arms itched from scars shed,
I could fed the stinging sharpie on my leg spread.
I took a breath.
and for a second,
a brief second,
I forget I wanted to be dead.
stood a few minutes in the rain.
It just fell.
The plants in our garden all flourished,
all pretty and polished.
I took a breath.
The sky was gray and blew,
there were a few birds that flew,
and if you look closely you could see plants that grew new.
I took a breath.
My jeans stabbed the scars on my leg,
My arms itched from scars shed,
I could fed the stinging sharpie on my leg spread.
I took a breath.
and for a second,
a brief second,
I forget I wanted to be dead.
