Black Dotted Butterfly 🦋
Sitting alone in my bedroom reading a novel 'The Woman in the Window' that 1 borrowed from a friend when suddenly I noticed two beautiful butterflies flying around in my room. I observed them more closely this time and was in awe of their light brown wings, with beautiful black dots spread all over their brown coat.
They seemed to be flying frantically in search for a way out of my room, but I believe they were so panicked that none of them noticed the opened window which was also the same path they took
to come in.
I pitied the sight of them being
trapped here and decided to open the window even wider than it was before and by pushing the two curtains hanging above it to the extreme sides to create more room for their escape but to no avail.
I took the book I was reading to chase them
towards the window and eventually one finally did get out, but its lover did not. I chased it time and again till I tired myself out.
Who needs an exercise when you can chase a
stubborn little butterfly around your room and lose a kilo? I thought to myself.
So, I gave up and decided to leave the window as it is and get back to what I was doing and for a while I didn't seem to notice the butterfly at all.
It perhaps made its way out, I wondered. All happy and satisfied I closed my window shut. However, the next morning as I woke up to open the window, the butterfly was lying dead beside it.

*I would draw the conclusion from this story related to a common expression, 'You can bring the horse to the water, but you can't make the horse drink it.'*
Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments! 😃
