all of these darkened nights leave me feeling more and more lone,

as I know you spend yours awake, giggling under the sheets with another.

no matter how deep I yearn, none of my desires could ever be fulfilled,

you'll never love me the way you love her.

and so I'll spend my years hanging on to you, although unwilled.

you won't be mine today, not tonight, not tomorrow.

though I must add, her departure would leave me absolutely thrilled,

but I'm aware that if that were to come through, you'll be full of sorrow,

and of course, I'll stay here, at the edges of the universe, all alone.
