WHEN IT MATTERS MOST
It's easy to follow a path
When the footprints are clear;
It's never too hard to be bold
When there's no cause for fear.
But what if the storms on the shore
Blow the footprints away?
How many would be left behind
On the most dreadful day?
Fifty folks in grandeur could talk
With their tongues in their cheeks—
They could brag about being in love
For ten thousand straight weeks;
But when it matters most to prove
Half of what they confessed,
Their distrust is soon to be seen
As all they ever possessed!
Life is not about what we say
As much as what we do;
He is not faithful who promised,
But he who made it true.
So when in the days far ahead
We see no trace of light,
