I live alive
#WritcoPoemChallenge
Into the flames rising out of a setting sun,
I draw in a deep breath before I run.
faster and faster my feet barely touch ground
my breath threatens to stop as my heart starts to pound.
I ignore them both cus Im almost at that place
almost reached that for which I am running as though in a race
that place where my steps will stop and I will hear the wind thundering by
I always keep my eyes open as I jump toward the sky
seeing how high up I am then how fast I'm falling is terrifying I won't lie
but it's too late I've left the safe land behind
there's no going back no changing the mind
I've done this many times but this moment is always the same
I feel total fear for an instant then I remember the game
I have the rock held above my head in just the right way
and Its position is what will determine if I live to jump another day.
I feel it's where it's needed and then I just experience the fall
knowing the truth that that water might as well be a wall
but my rock is falling right ahead and will pave a clean path right through
I love the feeling when the water closes around me it's true.
I head for surface feeling amazing survived another dive
something about defying the risk of dying
makes me feel so very alive...
