The Weight Of Darkness
I can feel the night
Pulling my muscles
Into the mattress;
And weighing me down.
I can feel the exhaustion.
Although I want to stay awake.
Because I feel unsafe.
I'm distracted
By thoughts about death
And worthlessness.
I wish
I could relax;
I feel hopeless.
Tiredness
Is a heavy weight
Pushing me towards sleep,
Wherever that is.
Except
Everytime I get close
Fear takes over.
My eyes stay wide open.
