I suppose all lovers must mature
as do the tears that they cry
more than just the protestations
of a child railing against the unfair
or crying over what they cannot change
I've become the statuesque fountain
meant to pour grief into a cement pot
but lacking the impetus necessary
to force emotion through my valves
so I'm really just the statue
cracked and dry without its water
