A Fire Put Out
The flame burns out.
We are both left in meer darkness,
Emptiness takes over us indefinitely.
It fills our soul,
Replacing what we both took from each other.
All we have left is ash,
Remnants of a fire that once burned with intense passion.
The last of the embers float away one by one.
The dull spark is invisible to one another,
For only we can feel it burning in our own individual hearts.
In a way,
The loss of the fire was good for us.
We only got burned by the outlier flames when they reached out.
Our arms lined with burns,
We let the flame fade away,
Hoping they will heal from loss of contact.
But for a moment we forget that the dull spark still burns within us,
Connecting us inevitably.
Instead of the burns showing on our fake faces,
They show up on our empty hearts,
Casting scars on the surface and all the way within.
