The Greatest Pretender
To walk with a smile
A stride in your step
Waving with cheer
Masking the true stench

You hide it so well
We would never know
But as you wear the mask
It no longer holds

Wear and tare
To be young, to be old
Rust and decay
Yet, an everlasting soul

You pray to your God
They put faith in there money
Seeing green fields
And missing their blessings

I think about my life
I wonder how it will end
Is it truly of health
Or by my own hands

The paranoia slips
They laugh and they gawk
It must be about me
A thought never lost

I've never been the same
Since you left my life
Was I simply not enough
Or did we run out of time

Is there another chapter
I wanted more
You left me on a cliff
I guess you couldn't take anymore

I'm not the greatest
But I am a pretender
Hiding true emotions
You'll never see a better actor
