Poem of the Well
the well-water blue of this conquered sea
seeping with burdened green and gray
following the bodies of those she knew
pausing by the wayside of their white spray
cliff face of rocks that crag and chatter
marbled with jewels who forgot such scatter
of golden flesh that dried and stayed
on hills of envisioned clover and clay
this soil is swollen with darkening blue
cursed by some sylph to forever stay
near the ocean of wind that chortled and pined
and the plates of ice that watered the bay.
