you consume
'cause you can't create
and you thought
you'd be filled
with the gratification
you are chasing
never pausing
to realize
this need to devour
becomes unending
contentment slips out of hands
every single time
oh the amount
of gluttony never subsides
because happiness
is always second rate
through external means
but its purest form,
can be felt
in the moment you start creating
ideas, stories once materialized
is simply joy
cooking, writing, inventing
carry beads
of pleasure and satisfaction
the passion grows
that smile lingers
warmth and heat
felt in your entirety
as you finish another
of your so-called creations
no longer a glutton
oh my dear, stand tall and beam
shut this mindless consuming
for quick dopamine release
this is what they meant
when they say happiness is within
I am happy when I write
I am happy when I sing
it is rooted in you,
can you comprehend my dear?
you share it with the world
once you are able to articulate it
in whatever talent or form
as your chosen
medium of expression
whatever it is-
you are the creator
share it, so your happiness can be
felt by others.
