POEM #5

It's been a long time
but the memories remain fresh in our minds.
In the abuse of foreigners
we have learned to fight for our rights.

belittled,
stepped on,
and abused
our fellow Filipinos.

We have lost our rights
in our own society.
Many policies have changed
which made many people aware.

The roads were not easy
but they fought
for our country and rights
even though it caused hardship to the majority.

Many years have passed
but the memory will remain in the mind,
where it was fought
our country is full of heroes.

I hope this will serve as a lesson for everyone
and still be aware
that no matter how difficult everything is
some fight to defend the rights of all of us.
