I wish I can go miles to ease my pain
a long walk with just me and my shadow
holding hands with my best companion
minding not the pain in my marrow

this burden and pain I care not about
even though it eats me up day and night
have heard stories about survivals
and have seen the night fall in Soweto

nobody can love me like my shadow
the truest friend I would ever have
come rain come shine I see him behind
even in my darkest hour I am not alone
