My life is an open book,
That led me through every nook,
And every corner of discovery,
Of life's long journey
Became shorter than it took
One moment you are holding your mum's hand
Going down to the corner shop
Then you hear she is no longer with us
My reliance on her came to a stop
Years go by, was on my own
Each stage of my life, surviving alone
I wish my mum had been here
I am too old to ask for the impossible
All I do is look down the corner of that journey
And sometimes shed a tear.
