Memories of Grand Children
Thatha it has been one year
Since you went away from us
But still your shadow moves around us
Day in and day out
Where-ever we go or stay
Your memories still remain afresh
There is not a day
Where we can avoid remembering you
Sometimes expressed
And many a times unexpressed
In the busiest of time or when relatively free
It is impossible not to think of you
You come back in our memories in different forms
As a lyricist, composer and singer
Writing, composing and singing songs about us
Sometimes jovial, emotional or familial
But in each of your compositions
Only displaying love for us
When we move through the streets
It reminds us of the moments
You have carried us in your warm shoulders
Or carried us on the strollers
And many times holding our hands walking miles
Reminding us of your warmth which can still be felt
When we go to the temples
It reminds us of your humming songs
The devotional songs that you used to sing
Using the mike that you used to carry
And come back with Prasad – pulihora, vada, pongal
Whose delicious taste we used to enjoy
When we pass through the sweet shops and bakery
It reminds us of multiple times
Sweets, Cakes and Snacks you used to bring
And while we ate these delicious items
The satisfaction you used to feel
We keep thinking of your cello tape usage
And the multiple times we used to have jokes
Your all in one solution in using cello tape
For things beyond packing
On walls, boards, suitcase, taps, cots and wiring
For things which only you can think
Whenever a festival is held
We keep remembering the times we spent together
Singing and dancing, talking and joking
The pretty fights between you and ajji
Your wait for payasam and pulihora
Which we all used to have together
We keep remembering
The tree which you climbed during a visit
The swimming that you did in the resort
Basketball which you played
Treks that you did during landslides
Each of the memories are still afresh
The cook experiments you did
During Ajji’s day out
Litres of rasam and saambaar you used to prepare
All in one paste for making chapathis to kolbale, chakli you prepared
Jam cum ketchup which can be used as hot or cold drink you made
We keep remembering all your cooking innovations
We remember the TV you used to watch
Your favorite movies and serials
Countless times you watched
Movies - MASS, Athadu, Okkadu, Dhookudu, Manmatudu, O my god, 3 Ediots, PK, Munnabhai
Serials – CID, Kumkuma puvvu, Koilamma, Crime patrol
Mass Malanna which you used to watch in the morning
Multiple times you used to take us on metro
And the metro staff who had become familiar with us
The multiple people in the streets
Who had become familiar with the sight of you carrying us
And walking miles in the streets
All these memories remain afresh
Your ever-ready approach to
Give suggestions and ideas
In travel, home, office or anywhere
With the best intent of helping others
Your never say give up attitude till your final moments
And a forever young attitude
Will remain inspirations for us
From your loving Grandchildren
Sathvik, Sahithi and Aman
