You stay awake at night
as sleep ditches you.
You are always ready for the fight,
because choices elude you.
You stay with someone,
and yet you battle alone.
You don't prefer solitude,
to challenges, you are prone.
You pledge not to be defeated,
but fate has other plans.
You keep fighting and punching,
but what bleeds is your own hand.
A little voice within you,
keeps getting louder.
It tells you it is time to let go,
breaking down can also make you prouder.
So let go, just this one time,
as you cannot hold sand.
Maybe what hurt you the most,
was the strength in your own hand.
