A TALE OF DARK CONTINENT
PROLOGUE
It was all well,
Anyone can tell,
Adorable culture,
Admirable nature,
Africa was dark but beautiful
Societies cherished,
When rains nourished,
The soil of their land,
Delightful than wonderland,
Africa was dark but beautiful
Lifespan was prolonged,
Everyone always longed,
For a long life and health,
Joy, peace and wealth,
Africa was dark but beautiful
THE TALE
There came butterflies,
Prophecies weren't lies,
They filled every part,
Tore the continent apart,
Whites invaded Africa
Culture was termed as evil,
Traditions linked to the devil,
Sacred places destroyed,
The gods were annoyed,
New religion invaded Africa
Mathembo in Kambaland,
Mugumo in Kikuyu land,
All sacred places burned,
And so the land turned,
Into a mess of drought
The whites could tell,
The stories of hell,
People got threatened,
Fear of being damned,
They abandoned Africanism
Our own land they took,
Our people could just look,
At their fire breathing gun,
Tumults had just begun,
Strange crops invaded Africa
Civilization,
Westernisation,
Christianity,
Inhumanity,
Tore the dark continent apart
EPILOGUE
With the severe fate,
Africa resorted to hate,
Its own origin,
Since whites drew a margin,
Between primitivity and civilization
Gone, everything is gone,
Fine foods are gone,
Adorable culture is gone,
Admirable nature is gone,
The dark but beautiful continent is gone
"Until the lion learns how to write, the story of hunting will always glorify the hunter,"
Chinua Achebe; Things Fall Apart
