When I Met You
There was a time,
When I was a ghost living amongst people,
There was a time,
When silence was the only language I could speak in,

There was a time, a very long time ago,
When I would tremble in people’s presence,
Words never seemed pass beyond my lips,
All it takes is another person, and my stomach would do flips,
And just like that, I felt like I was in a dark room,
The loneliness consuming me, this room slowly closing in,
I would have been happy, with no one around me,
Only if I didn’t feel so claustrophobic,

As my head was full of thoughts I couldn’t express,
My heart so heavy with the bottled up feelings,
My sanity was on the brink of extinction,
But revived when you were placed onto my hands,

I still remember that day, that silver-haired lady,
Her smile shone brighter than the sun,
Dried my tears, took me to the shelves and whispered,
“Now, you shall never be alone”,

Then suddenly, a door appeared in that dark room,
I opened it, my eyes blinded from the light,
As each page of yours submerges me into the world of colors,
Each a different place, with so many different people,

You are so silent, yet you tell me everything,
You put in color to the grey painting,
Taught me the beauty of everything,
Made me feel things that weren't there in reality,
And slowly mould me into the person that I am today,
The reason of my smile, my vision and freedom,
The reason why I think what I think or do what I do,
It was all you,

So there’s a time,
When I am standing in front of the shelves,
There’s a time,
When I am running my hands lazily across your smooth pages,
There’s a time, that is still continuing,
When I’m in a different world while sitting at the corner of my room,
Our bond forged stronger with every page turned,
And this would go on,
Forever and ever.
