Hey adult, you’re not a baby, please pay attention
Hey! Have you noticed how often adults call themselves and other adults, baby, in songs of love and sexual desire? Have you noticed that is strange? Have you realised that it derives from a culture that is patriarchal? The world we live in is still dominated by men who want to be called baby and who want to call women baby. But women don’t want to be infantilised anymore; Men I hope will soon grow up. Women I hope will soon grow up. Babies I hope will be allowed to just be babies without harm from those older than them; With grown up minds that don’t always see the baby as a baby, that wish to see adults as a baby still. But why?! Please pay attention to the words you hear and the feeling you have in your stomach when you say them too. Adults deserve to be called adults and to feel beautiful being called an adult; A woman, a man, androngynous, non-binary. But I don’t often hear these words being called out in songs of love or sexual desire… why, baby? I don’t find that sexually appealing or desirable. Do you?
