Lately I wonder what's wrong
At a turn I could see your face
Yet even if you stay a few inches away
The distance between us seems to lengthen
So close yet so far
Somehow I have you by me
Yet I feel we have drifted so far
And I speak to you with a smile
Yet in truth
a thousand words are left unsaid
And I want to walk away from the farce
I used to think my survival
revolved around you
That I'd be nothing
if I didn't have you by my side
But watching you today
With your smiles and laughter
I could only bring myself to see
That I could have you by my side
But what good was it when we lacked trust
So I said a silent goodbye
To the very thought that I needed you to be
A promise to myself that from now on
I would only need me
